Hey Nonny / Arlington Heights

It’s the spookiest time of the year and we are here for it! This month, tellers freak you out with stories about real-life witches, pop-up sex dungeons, road raging lunatics, baby ghosts (still scary), creepy inn owners, an actual psycho killer, and the scariest creature of all: your fellow man.

This show is appropriate for age 18* unless accompanied by an adult.

All sales are final - no refunds or exchanges.

Diane Kastiel is the producer and host of First Person Live. A writer and storyteller from Chicago, she’s a three-time winner of the National Public Radio’s Moth StorySLAM; her work has been featured on the Moth Radio Hour, its podcast, and at special events for WBEZ, NPR’s Chicago affiliate. Diane has told stories on stage at The Second City, Steppenwolf, the Park West, Victory Gardens and other theaters as well as comedy clubs, art galleries, the basement of a tattoo parlor - she even did a show in the middle of the woods! Diane works with libraries, schools, community centers and homeless shelters to bring storytelling to a wider audience, and leads storytelling workshops at Northwestern University. Diane is an alumna of The Second City Conservatory and the University of Chicago’s Great Books program. She also has an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management…just in case.

Jason Brammer_Oct 2026.jpg

Jason Brammer is a Chicago muralist and painter currently transforming his Humboldt Park studio with a mural where Oz meets Eden. Over more than 20 years as a professional artist, Jason has created commissioned work for clients including LinkedIn, Hulu, Shedd Aquarium, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Dark Matter Coffee. His last non-art job paid $4.25 an hour to stand in a giant cardboard box sorting through dirty clothes at a Goodwill in Bloomington, Indiana. In the ‘90s he played bass in Old Pike, a rock band signed to Sony Records, and toured the country with them. He's told stories at a few Moth StorySLAMs around Chicago, winning the first one he entered (!). He's practiced yoga for fifteen years and lives in Logan Square with his wife Erin and their black cat, Dahlia.

Suzanne Woodward_Oct 2026.jpeg

Suzanne Woodward is a higher education fundraiser by day, and an avid music lover, series streamer and reader by night. She is the mother of two grown men who are her pride and joy. Suzanne was born, raised and still resides in west central Illinois, but loves to travel as often as possible, especially to see her favorite folk bands. Suzanne is new to live storytelling, having only told three stories on the Moth stage. In her younger years, she spent time on stage in local theater and community bands, something she hopes to return to soon as sh adjusts to being an empty nester.

Nestor Gomez_June 2022.jpeg

Nestor Gomez was born in Guatemala and moved to Chicago in the mid ‘80s. He told his first story at a Moth StorySLAM as a way to get over stuttering. He won the slam that night and currently holds the record for most Chicago wins. Nestor is also the producer and host of 80 Minutes Around the World: an immigration storytelling show, which showcases stories of immigrants and their allies. But if you ask him, he will say his greatest achievements are making his mother proud and winning the heart of his wife, Sweet Mel.

Suzanne Nice_Oct 2026.jpg

Suzanne Nice is a high school psychologist and loves working with students of all ages. She has no performance experience other than her high school marching band and playing one of the Brewster Sisters in a high school production of Arsenic and Old Lace. But Suzanne has always loved storytelling and has been known to sit in her car in the garage listening to the rest of a story on The Moth Radio Hour. She learned about storytelling through many years of attendance at the Maurie Nice School of Storytelling – her father, at dinner, entertaining the family with excerpts from his day. She learned from the best.

Paul Teodo_edited_edited.jpg

Paul Teodo is a retired healthcare executive. Born and raised on Chicago's south side, he’s been telling stories in real life for 67 years and on stage for the past eight. Paul is a five-time Moth StorySLAM winner and a Moth GrandSLAM Champion, invited to perform in New York at the prestigious Moth Ball and featured on CBS Sunday Morning. His novels and short story collections are available on Amazon. Paul raised two great sons as a single dad and is a lifelong dog lover.

Maham Khan_April 2025.jpg

Maham Kahn is returning to the stage after a 25-year hiatus: She won a national gold medal in prose reading while competing on her college speech team in 2003 and since then has won… nothing. (In fact, she has been collecting first-hand data on “the art of not winning” for the last two decades.) But it turns out not winning leads to a lot of good stories, and Maham is rediscovering her passion for creative writing and the spoken word as she navigates the ass-pains of single motherhood, turning 40, teaching Gen Z, people pleasing, and a slow metabolism.

Jim Petersen_Aug2018_edited.jpg

Jim Petersen was the sex editor of Playboy magazine for almost 40 years years. (USA Today once called his column, The Playboy Advisor, “the premier source of sex information in the country.”) As the Playboy Advisor, Jim did stand-up sex therapy on 125 college campuses, wrote about sex when sex was new, and appeared on Late Night with David Letterman. (Note: If you followed his advice and were injured trying the Chinese Basket Trick, be advised that the statute of limitations has run out.) Jim is a regular at Moth StorySLAMs and other storytelling shows around Chicago.
